This is where I'm sharing some thoughts ...

I was unpacking a rucksack recently. At the bottom, squished in a corner was a battery pack. It was quite heavy. I hadn't realized it had got buried in there. It suddenly made me think: that's what understanding and getting to know parts of ourselves can be like. If we don't know what we're carrying, how can we lighten our load? The past can still be weighing us down and directing how we behave now.
A Hakomi session can feel like shining a light on some dark corners, or dusting off a treasure. Exploring old wounds in a safe space but also uncovering happy memories that can resource us. Finding out what can nourish us in our everyday life, right now.

Our kitchen has just been refurbished. The fridge had to move to the other end of the room while the carpenter put in new shelves. Now it's moved back to its old place. It's only taken one month for me to get used to going to the new position. Now that it's back in its old place my feet still start taking me to where it was temporarily.
It made me think how that's how quickly a new habit can form. I have to be conscious to move in the new direction. It's like how we can be stuck in the same attitudes or preferences because they're habitual. If we want to have new options it takes conscious choice.
