About Loan

Choosing a therapeutic approach and a practitioner can be a little overwhelming. If you've arrived here I'm guessing there's already something about the Hakomi approach and myself that resonates with you.

My name, Loan, sounds like Lwaan. I was born in Saigon and have over 25 years experience working in a therapeutic capacity.

I started working with people as a Rolfer and Rolf Movement Practitioner in 1989.  I noticed that clients often had psychological as well as physical experiences when they were receiving Rolfing sessions. I decided I wanted to work more with the whole person and finding Hakomi as an approach was like arriving home. I'd been inspired by Thích Nhất Hạnh, the Buddhist Zen teacher, and 'father' of mindfulness for twenty years and Hakomi's use of mindfulness and embodiment felt beautifully familiar. I  appreciated it's skilful way of following what is happening holistically and the use of touch, as gentle and powerful ways of working.

I  am certified with the Hakomi Education Network, the professional body which trains Hakomi practitioners worldwide.  I am also a member of the Body Psychotherapy Network (BPN) and the Black and Asian Therapy Network (BAATN).

I'm nourished by life long learning and hold

a certificate in the 'Decolonising Therapy,' Introduction to Counselling course with  BAATN and have trained with 'Wisdom of the Body', a Hakomi approach to healing trauma. I hold a DBS and am fully insured to work as a Hakomi Practitioner.

Please feel free to email or leave me a message to find out more about Hakomi and how I work.
